Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

Contemporary fiction, prose  - Ages 15 to older “ I wanted to tell them that he had changed my life and that I would never be the same, not ever. And that somehow it felt like it was Dante who had saved my life and not the other way around. (...) I wanted to tell them so many things and yet I didn't have the words. So I just stupidly repeated myself. "Dante's my friend.”  I think I really gravitated towards this book while reading it because I could relate to it so much. This story let me take a breath between every word and reflect after each adventure in every chapter. Over the course of this story, Aristotle discovers the “secrets of the universe” while struggling and thriving through school and summers in High School as a Mexican boy.  If I am going to be honest, some parts of this book made me mad, because I just wanted Ari to yell into the wind and finally face the truth that he isn’t going to be perfect and that he can’t keep continuing to push away his only frie

The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas   Fantasy, fiction     Ages 15 to older I think it is safe to say that anything by Sarah J. Maas is action packed and beautifully worded. I found this book in my school library, which was kind of surprising but I checked it out the second I saw it. This story follows the beginning stages of Celaena Sardothien’s life before she ventu

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover     Contemporary romance novel    Ages 15 to older The only way I could describe myself after finishing this book is content. Besides the fact that anything Colleen Hoover writes is beautiful, this story was especially incredible, from the wording to the actually freaking lyrics! My favorite part of this book was the fact that Hoover incorporated short songs that the “characters” wrote, instead of just describing the songs- they were there! And as a lover of original music or just songwriting in general, this trait made me smile deep down. I also enjoyed the way in which the words were set up on the page. I noticed that Hoover did something similar to this in her other novel Ugly Love . It is almost written in pros in some parts, and it really adds a calm but also very impactful element when reading the story.  Now leading into the main factor of this book. That factor being that one of the main characters, Ridge is deaf. I have never read a story (a
