Long Live The Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw

Long Live The Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw

YA, fiction

I had seen this book before somewhere, but I was very excited when I unwrapped this gift for Christmas! If I haven’t mentioned before, The Nightmare Before Christmas created by Tim Burton, is probably one of my favorite movies of all time, so you can assume that I was interested to see the epilogue from Sally’s perspective.

This book was definitely lower than my reading level with its size fourteen font and respective main ideas, but it still pulled me in like the original story line. the details of Halloween Town and the dark, twisted woods built around these main characters were beautifully but darkly described. When it came to romance, it was absolutely adorable! Jack and Sally Skellington are just the cutest and I am glad that even just their little bit of romance gets to exist in this creepy world of Tim Burton and Shea Ernshaw.

Sally has to face many difficulties throughout story entirely by herself, while trying to stay true to herself and her unknown past. I loved getting to see this new background created for Sally and how much of a strong female character she plays in this story. The world definitely needs more Sally’s in it. I would recommend this book to young lovers of Tim Burton’s magical tales, and those with a love for magic and f course, simply, Halloween. this book was 100% a fast five star read.

- “Because I am not the like the queen of any other realm, or country. I am Sally Skellington, Pumpkin Queen. “ (Ernshaw 306).
